In 2019, Tudor took a bold step to expand its Black Bay collection with the introduction of the P01. Drawing inspiration from a prototype military diver they had developed in the 1960s, Tudor reimagined the Black Bay with the P01, offering a fresh take on this iconic line. The P01 features a 12-hour bezel and a distinct case design, characterized by a crown positioned at four o'clock and a robust bezel locking mechanism employing a claw-like system nestled between the lugs. This unconventional approach set the P01 apart from the traditional Black Bay designs.

Constructed predominantly in steel, the P01 boasts a substantial 42mm case and is complemented by a proprietary strap that seamlessly integrates with the unique lugs and bezel lock. Water-resistant up to 200 meters, the P01's standout features include its 12-hour bezel, innovative bezel locking system, and the strikingly asymmetrical case shape, a notable departure from the familiar Black Bay aesthetic, yet it retains the classic 42mm case diameter.

The P01 and its innovative bezel locking mechanism are rooted in Tudor's historical "Commando" program, which aimed to create a secure bezel design to prevent accidental displacement. The resulting design, patented by Rolex in 1968, featured a mechanism situated between the lugs, using tension to secure the bezel in place, allowing it to be unlocked manually when needed, ensuring reliable functionality.

At the heart of the P01 lies Tudor's trusted MT5612 caliber, a reliable movement that has been a cornerstone of the Black Bay range. Its track record for reliability makes it a consistent choice for Tudor's timepieces.
